Helen Metcalfe, M.Ed.Founder + Lead EducatorA useful fit when
More than generic tutoring
Minds in Motion™ is the Studio’s practical method: listen to the student and family, choose the next workable goal, practice it, and review what carries into daily life.
Practice planning, task initiation, organization, persistence, and follow-through using routines the student can actually use.
Turn missing work, skill gaps, or a difficult transition into a practical plan with a manageable first step.
Help students express what they need, understand supports, ask useful questions, and take a more active role.
Build confidence, functional routines, and participation skills for school, home, college, and community settings.
Two valid starting points
A small group can become an important place for connection, confidence, and long-term practice. It does not have to be the first step.
For students who need lower social demand, a steadier relationship, or focused skill-building before group participation feels manageable.
For students ready to practice routines, self-advocacy, collaboration, and confidence with a small number of compatible peers.
The Studio can move between the two formats as readiness and needs change.

Helen reviews fit, timing, and the most useful first service—without assuming a long commitment.
Begin individually or in a carefully matched small group, then adjust the format as readiness, relationships, and goals change.
Clear starting options
A student can start one-to-one or in a compatible group. Small groups remain available only when the match supports every participating student.
Connection + shared practice
Four 60-minute sessions with compatible students. Groups build routines, confidence, peer connection, and practice carrying skills into a larger setting.
A quieter place to begin
Four individual 60-minute sessions for students who need focused support before a group feels manageable or useful.
Move between formats
A student may begin individually, move into a compatible group, or add focused one-to-one sessions while keeping the relationships and routines built in the group.
Good to know
No. Some students need individual support before the social demands of even a small group feel manageable. The Studio can work toward group participation without forcing the timing.
Academic skills may be part of the work, but the Studio also focuses on the routines, communication, confidence, and self-advocacy that help learning carry forward.
No. We begin with current strengths, barriers, and goals—not a required label.
With appropriate family permission, the Studio can support agreed educational goals and share concise, practical observations with existing team members.
No. Student Skills Studio provides non-clinical educational support. It is not medical care, mental-health treatment, crisis support, or an emergency service.
